Heat Pumps

I have worked at this hotel since 1986, and Isley's Home Services has done the majority of the work we have had done. They did the air conditioners, some of the plumbing, and water heaters, and they always stand behind their products. They are also very prompt, courteous, and professional.

What is a Heat Pump?
A heat pump is a cooling and heating system designed to keep your Phoenix, AZ home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Heat Pumps are most efficient in moderate winter climates, like we experience in Phoenix, Arizona and surrounding areas.A Heat Pump is the most advanced and efficient heating and cooling system available for your Phoenix, AZ residential and commercial property. Upgrading your old HVAC system to a new all-electric heat pump can save you money on heating and cooling costs. Heat pumps are extremely efficient, because they simply transfer heat, rather than burn fuel to create it.
How a Heat Pump Operates
In the winter a heat pump collects heat from the outside air and transfers in into your Phoenix, AZ home or business. The heat pump is able to collect heat from the outside air even at temperatures well below freezing. In the summer, it takes heat from inside the dwelling and transfers it outdoors, leaving you cool. In the winter, it simply reverses the cooling cycle so that refrigerant absorbs heat from the outside air and releases it inside your Phoenix, AZ home or business.Cooling Cycle for Heat Pumps
In the cooling cycle, a heat pump operates the same as a conventional Air Conditioner. The indoor unit coil becomes a cooling coil, which takes warm, moist indoor air, cools and dehumidifies it to keep your Phoenix, AZ home comfortable. Heating Cycle for Heat Pumps
In the heating cycle, refrigerant in the outdoor coil absorbs heat from the outside air. A compressor heats the refrigerant through the act of compression and pumps the hot refrigerant to the indoor coil. Air from you home is circulated over the coil, which heats the air and warms your Phoenix, AZ home or business. The Importance of Efficiency Ratings
- SEER: Heat pumps are rated by a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). The higher the SEER, the greater the efficiency and the less it costs to cool your Phoenix, AZ home or business. The minimum SEER rating on HVAC equipment manufactured today is 13 SEER. Higher SEER rated equipment is widely available and efficiency ratings will vary according to size and brand selection.
- HSPF: Heat pump heating efficiency ratings are expressed as the heating Seasonal Performance Factor. Just the like the SEER rating for cooling, the higher the HSPF rating, the greater the efficiency. HSPF ratings range from about 6.8 to greater than 8.
Proper sizing for Heat Pumps
Selecting the right size equipment for you Phoenix, AZ home or business is very important in buying a new heat pump. A system that is too large will affect humidity levels, comfort levels, running time and efficiency. A load calculation should be performed to determine the correct size heat pump for your particular application. A heat pump that is sized correctly is your best buy because it will remove more humidity as it cools and use less energy than a larger unit that cycles on and off more frequently than necessary. Properly sized HVAC equipment keeps you comfortable and helps save you money. Read What Isley's thinks of Isley's.........
